I was right about my assumption. Anna’s comes from a Margrave family which is two levels above Vicount Lawerence. So she and her family have a lot powerful influence. Only Royalty and the various Duke titles are above a Margrave which incidentally usually have a large army because they control territory that borders a different nation.

I find the main character’s logic completely short-sighted and frustrating. Why waste time and energy seeking revenge on two insignificant people? Why try to take over a household where everyone openly despises you? By targeting Anna and his half-brother, he’s just creating a massive new problem for himself with her father, the Duke. Since he is earning major military merits from the King anyway, it makes much more sense to request or purchase land. Building his own domain would give him full control and a safe environment to protect his loved ones, soldiers, and citizens. A story about building a sovereign territory would be far more interesting than yet another typical family revenge plot.
Anyways that’s just my thought on the matter.
