My Wife Is From a Thousand Years Ago - Chapter 448

Time marches ever on, and we’re just along for the ride. Feels good seeing the kids finally carving a niche for themselves in the world, but there’ll always be that aching sense of longing for how things were. People can call it becoming an empty nester or any other epithet they desire, it doesn’t make it sting any less regardless.

In a similar fashion it still feels this way to me concerning my brother, since he was the first to move out and establish himself. As much as we may’ve annoyed each other at times, we share as close a bond as two brothers can, doubly so after our biological parents divorce and the chaos which followed. Now he has a life and a family of his own to care for, and as much as I wish them all the happiness in the world, a small part of me always wishes for a return to those times where the world felt as small as the two of us roaming outside or playing games together. Selfish and bittersweet in equal measure, but it is what it is.

It’ll be nice to go back to the old place and see a return to the series roots, a lot has changed but there’s just enough left that they should be comfortable with it. Jeez, it’s only been maybe a year or so since I started reading and I’m getting a bit misty eyed thinking about how much both of them have done and seen. We all joke about the end of the series being near, and maybe it is now that they’re both nearly as old as his parents were at the start, but in much the same way as part of me longs for my brother to come back, another part of me wishes to see this until both Qingze and Jiang He are happily old and grey.

That got a good bit more emotional than I thought it would before I started reading, but it’s been a long while since I had a thought dump like this here I guess. Hope as always life’s treating y’all well and that you’re in good health. Even if I may not be as vocal as I was earlier on, it’s still a genuine pleasure to be reading alongside y’all.
