Cool way to end a chapter. I guess they were going for mystery and suspense but when there’s absolutely zero frame of reference they coulda said a Kazzowort and there’d be as much readon to be excited based on the monster.
The dynamics of this school sucks. they are supposed to learn in the first year not compete with this crappy strategy, lame.

If they fighting a cyclops in their 3rd week of their 1st year, I can’t imagine what the professors pit the students against in their 3rd year
