Last night I had a dream, I was a mercenary on a flying battleship going to the front to fight. A guy was complaining to an experienced female mercenary that his sword was crud. It wouldn’t cut anything when he was practicing. I walked up to him.
I said, “The problem is you don’t know when you’re cutting right. If you hit it wrong, the sword will twist, and your angled blow won’t deliver all your power. It’ll feel blunt. It’ll sound like a ‘thap!'” I showed him a bad swing against the practice wall. “thap!”
Then I continued, “When you get better, you’ll make a loud ‘bang’ sound because it hits head on.” I hit the wall again, “BANG!”
The woman mercenary yelled “The hell is that, I’ve never heard such stupid advice!”
I smiled at her, then said, “And when you master your blade, it won’t wobble anymore. It’ll make barely a sound when it cuts right through.” I made a third swing. “shpt.”
Her smile went wide and she said, “Alright, now you’re talking. Best explanation I’ve ever heard.” She gave me a thumbs up.
(A few minutes later I got stuck in a broken elevator.)
