There are a bunch of comments bellow talking about him being in there for 30 days but for anybody curious he would have spent much longer
It says time moves 1440 times slower which means every day he spends inside the digestive system 1 minute passes outside. Now he says it felt like it had been 4 years. 4 × 365 = 1460 meaning if he spent 4 years inside 1460 minutes passes outside which is 24 hours and 20 minutes. This means it took the elves an entire day to go back and get reinforcements.
