Are u really trying to make a castle with just dirt?
And can u even be teritorial lord without appointed by emperor?
Pretty sure a lord would not be very happy about someone decalring they are a lord on thier own territory. Usually this isn’t possible unless you establish your territory on unclaimed land..
Oh the grave bells, I haven’t seen that concept worked into a manga before.
For those who don’t know or who haven’t picked up on it. The bells attached to the graves was a real thing that used to happen back when the understanding of medicine was still not good enough. The idea was that because doctors sometimes messed up with a death diagnosis, people would often be buried alive due to the misconception. So what they would do to solve that was they’d attach bells to the graves and run a string attached to it into the coffin so that if the person wasn’t actually dead and woke up, all they’d have to do is ring the bell and whoever was nearby would notice it an dig them back up. I think they used to have people who sat nearby the fresh graves for a couple of days after the burial just in case, not sure on that one though. Still its neat to see this adapted into a manga.

The castle thing is actually a real issue about how memory works. We remember a castle (or a house, or a church, etc.) as a sort of generic idea, and then we remember a few specific details about each castle we remember.
So Masaru just thought “a castle” and got the most generic version, because he didn’t try to recall the details of any specific castle. Even if he had, it would still have been mostly blank, with just a few details in certain spots.
