The criteria for being a “hero” being that is really vague, like technically every semi popular leader is a hero with the right people around them and if the requirements are for it to be over a wide population, then a mayor, president or dictator are hero’s by that logic.
I hate authors like that, you make absolutely idiotic characters that no one can take seriously. Is it too much to ask, at least to make them human? So we can hate them more

My thoughts about being a hero is someone who is selfless and always ready to help others.

He may be weak and egotistic, but unlike other hero wannabee trash from other mangas. He at least was smart enough to test his abilities on weaker monsters. Most other losers continue getting handed smacks left and right by S ranked monster and never try to see how weak they really are.
