I kinda hate it that so many plots are driven by lies and deceit. I mean, it’s OK if the one(s) lying are “bad guys” or enemies of the MC, but it’s annoying when it is people on good terms with one another “lying” to avoid embarrassment or to prevent perceived negative outcomes. I’m not talking about the two MCs fake dating (they were kind of forced into that at threat of bodily harm or death), but rather about Onodera lying about the pendant to “spare” him because she thinks he is dating the gorilla girl. And this trope is so very common.
