Go back and read around chapter 102 when Shin yoosoung was a disaster driven by hatred and Kim Dokja refused to kill her because he came to deeply understand her character and sympathized with her even if it was as he put it “an unwise choice” because he did not care. He was driven by emotion at that point in time because he wanted to change the conclusion of her story, he didn’t want it to end like that. And I as the reader felt the same way, despite everything I wanted Shin Yoosoung to be redeemed and have her happy ending sins be damned. The kind words he spoke to her, the promise he made to her and the lengths he went through to get her soul back was not just a mere stepping tool to his grand plan because thats how this chapter phrases his motivations.
