I think the proper translation for NIFLHEIM is Nephilim. I can’t find the raw to confirm this yet. So, the kanji for Ragnir are written as rag = iron which is not how iron is typically pronounced in Japanese and nir = thunder which is also not. However, Japanese when they translate names from other culture sometime when inject their own interpretation into these names and thus enriching the meaning of these “holy objects” within their own. Sometime this can lead to creation of new words and meanings and context, or feeds it back to the original.
The reason why I said the translation for NIFLHEIM should be Nephilim is because NIFLHEIM are the bio-inorganic lava giants in Naussica Of The Wind Valley by Hazao Miyazaki. Heim mean “human” in German but we know from Miyazaki’s later works like Castle In The Sky and also the ending of Naussica and his close connection to the creator of Neon Genesis Hideaki Anno who was Myazaki’s assistant in his early days, that he must be thinking of Hell’s Angels (like Satan) when he equate his Lava Giant with NIFLHEIM, just like Oda is doing here with RagNir = Iron Thunder. Nephilim is how the Bible called Angels in Genesis and only in Genesis for some odd reasons.
Now NIFL in German means mist/fog, so NIFLHEIM would translate back into German as mist-human which is wrong. Obviously Nephilim is technically wrong too since this is a skeleton. Uh …hmm … maybe I complain too much …
Another interesting translation oddity is: Elbaf is of the “D”
I hope I can find the raw soon because I think this guy is definitely wrong. I think Mu is referring to the “D” that belongs to the island of Elbaf which would be what Ragnir was guarding. This would suggest D and the “Will of D” are referring to “special fruits” and their owners. Does this mean each island has a D fruit? Or more likely based on the Mu’s reaction that only some island has D fruits. Does this mean that Luffy’s belong to some island that is long gone. And does being on it’s own island give it special “advantages” like a home court advantage?
Thanks for reading another entry in The Annales of WuLiWenPin Publishers. We write nonsense-scholarships to explain the world (yes, One Piece is part of our world because it is created by a human on Earth … I hope) through magical thinking, aka nonsense, aka BS. Our goal is to make people think, puzzled, and ask questions, not just about the literature and media that they read/watch, but also about the truth within our world? For example, we know the giants are the Vikings. Do you know what the island controlled by Doflamingo is modeled after? It’s America because the puppets are a reference to Disney lands aninmatronics and the Collesium is a reference to profession sports.
And Doxquiote Doflamingo himself is a reference to the flashy, cartoonish that Americans have as Presidents starting with JFK, throughout the decades. Doxquiote is the knight who charges at imaginary enemies that he has no hope of winning while flamingo are these weird birds that likes to stand on one legs and are full of pink feathers. According to a biography I read about Franklin D. Roosevelt (Imagine that, another D), pink was supposed invented that Lady Roosevelt fell in love instantly and it became her color and got popularized throughout America and then the world. This means Pink did not exist prior to World War 2. This would mean Flamingo might be bio-engineered as so are many animals that we only ever know from looking at picture or in zoos. Like what if Apes are actually intelligent and can converse but are locked up because they are experimental subjects.
Now what do you supposed the whole East Blue was suppose to represent where the first 5 members started off. I think they represent the 5 tigers: Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Thailand. Using “BS magic” here is how I assign the characters. Keep in mind this is all BS, with no basis, other than personal bias.
Japan -> Zoro (Samurai)
Korea -> Sanji (Taekwendo)
Taiwan -> Usopp (Joker)
Thailand -> Luffy (God)
Singapore -> Nami (Scientists)
Guys, just stop hoping that someone will join the crew. Just because someone show up and you like, doesn’t mean that it will join the crew. Luffy’s crew is already full… plus, the power balance is already established
that was frost and thunder combined along with haki, also luffy not sitting on his shoulder to enjoy, he know loki is injured so he is tagging along to help,
my guess is vega punk will develop shrinking ray to fight the giants, and it will ultimatly help loki to join the crew, but lets see if it goes, we also have another option but she only reduce the age for a short time so that wont work,
and entire elbaf is about to witness the wonder of Joy Boy
davy d jones is black beard/rocks side,
joy boy is giants side, like how emeth awakended to luffy rytham, elbaf giants will awake loki + luffy rytham
Here we GOOO
he literally put that skeleton back to HELL
I just finished my yearly vacation and tomorrow is working day then bam another vacation. My manager was surprised. I mean we were surprised.
Oda, you are taking so many breaks you sob
i like Luffy sitting at Loki’s Shoulder while fighting. starting to make a strong bond and i hoping Loki will join Strawhats. 😀
Niflheim is definitely an ice power. I don’t know what the rest of you are on about.
I think the fact that he called out his power might mean he controls multiple elements though, somehow.
The weapon must be able to negate magic or overwrite it.

So that’s why Shanks let his arm get eaten by the sea king, to get rid of the mark?
