The stars in the eyes seems to symbolize the dark aspect of the artist god… and the brightly shining stars symbolize the good aspect. If we think about it this way, then yes… the real Ai was a very brooding and depressed person… so her real eyes were the dark stars.
However, the father has dark stars and we know that he is evil. However, when he was a kid he had bright stars. Maybe he was just acting… but it could also symbolize that he was actually a good person originally, but that he got sexually abused by an adult woman (see raped) and this caused him to become evil.
