Fun fact: Technically you can eat many flowers, too. They have a very delicate taste, and are slightly sweet.

However it is not advised to do so with regular ones. They haven’t been raised with consumption in mind and have been treated with rather nasty chemicals to keep the production cost low.

Flowers for consumption do appear on the market from time to time, tho. You should try it if you have the chance. They make a lovely salad.

And don’t eat random flowers either. Even if home grown by yourself. Not all are edible. Please research which ones are.

One Example.

From Elderberries (Sambucus), everything that isn’t wooden is edible. The berries, obviously, and is said they have various health effects. The flowers can be eaten as part of a salad, or infused into water as a drink. A syrup is also possible.
And you can brew a tea from the leaves. An old TV show said, and people (I sold the leaves to*) confirmed, that the tea helps with bee allergies.
The man had it so bad, he had to carry an epi-pen. It has happen that he was stung a few weeks in after starting using the tea. Instead of going into shock, it barely swole. The also gave him an all clear. Or so they told me.
Please take that with a lump of salt, so big you can make a lamp out of it. Don’t rely on it, and consult a doctor.

*=Dunno if I truly sold them, or if I just was paid for plucking the best ones, from the easy accessable bush. It was on our property, but we ran a restaurant. Well. My parents did.
