Who’s been smacking our MC in the head so much it’s made him stupid? There’s no way he couldn’t recognize the princess. That situation with Doran should have gone straight into long term memory without spending any time in short term memory at all.
This mental lack makes him look stupider than he should be. I understand that author wants to inject humor into the story, but making him this stupid is, for me, a mistake. Like someone else in a comment on a previous chapter said, even the plot armor is against him. In a good story the MC never wins in spite of himself. He wins because he improves his character, not because it’s funny.
If you can make him progress because he improves his character and you can do it while adding humor, then that is what you really want. Not this idiotic lack of character and his despondency over a game.
tl;dr: Let our MC have a better personality now. He needs it more than he needs money. Stop portraying him as a greedy fool.
