While claiming “copyright” and “ownership” of things like fire, water, air, bent lines, methods of moving the human body… etc… in this case internal energy mixing…

So they would allow a “fire sub sect” to manage exclusively blacksmithing.

And “water sub sect” to manage plumbing/aqueducts, waterwheels…

Other sects each having their exclusive does only 1 thing inefficiently.

So that nobody can make a waterwheel powered blacksmiths workshop combined, with earth and air and wood & gold elements properly balanced. (Modern day automation & machinery)

It all HAD to be suppressed to prevent them loosing power. ( and then researched secretly by a few select people, and if they even produced 1! New invention that could make money & monopolize wealth, those select few would be killed too “keep the trade secret”)

Also it would be “sealing” their income job source, and also prove that they have been prideful and ignorant, loosing face for doing it wrong for thousands of years.
 
But that doesn’t matter to them, as long as their wealth and power stay intact, they can just hypocritically kill all the population even allies who know… “victors write history books, and might makes right mindset”
