That’s right! Besides, there are worse fates than death, and slavery is good for the economy (cheap labour force) and wars (cannon fodder/expendable manpower), or you can use them as materials or subjects for unethical but necessary experiments for technological development, especially the worst of the worst ones

why you release them, just make them a slave, so they can taste their own medicine
