As a salesperson in B2B Tech Sales, it’s crazy that the leadership put all of their eggs in the basket for a potential deal with a possible competitor. Their sales team did a horrible job in this situation with forecasting. I would have placed that deal at a 5% chance to close. They did not know their true motives (Appel), and were placing a lot of resources into working with them. I know this is fictional, but when they make these decisions that stresses their entire team out I know it comes from the top down with no great decisions from the chain of command. Their leadership is trash at the end of the day.
