Kindergarten level writing. Especially with Claire not having any agency. She’s constantly being dragged around by everyone. And he “friend” keeps harping on about Rode/Rhode being powerless, or poor or incompetent, even while confronted with overwhelming evidence to the contrary, several times.
It’s a stupid way to make the plot happen. A staple of Chinese slop.
