This is a pretty poor way of introducing Martial Arts as an actual threat in your story. “Descent of the Demonic Master” did it way better. Let’s be honest, Real Life Martial Arts, especially Real Life Chinese Martial Arts like Wing Chun, Kung Fu, Shaolin etc is complete bullsh1t. You’re better of using a knife, rock or gun to defend yourself, or your fists. The only Martial Arts that actually work is Mixed Martial Arts. Aside from that, better off with a weapon. I understand that in China these Fake Martial Arts Cults exist and are mainstream and supported by the Government, but that’s mostly for Soft Power Propaganda Reasons and to distract and weaken their population from rebelling against them. Better off promoting fake Martial Arts that claims to be able to destroy Planets with “Qi” than the Gun Store. It’s pretty unbelievable to see an actual person of high status and rank in China to actually rely on Martial Cultists instead of Trained Gunmen. This story would be better if it just showed the Fake Mainstream Martial Arts, and how MC is different because he actually has “Qi”.
