Chen Fan’s own sense of justice is merely based on his own preferences, like all the people he kills. He is just replacing the people he destroys. Eventually he will have to kill everyone who doesn’t bow to him, because he can’t tolerate any resistance. It’s hard to continue reading this series because there is no character growth.. he doesn’t grow emotionally. He is stuck in the mindset that he has to kill everyone to protect his family. Interestingly the writers have created a world in which he can’t exist peacefully, so there is no exit from his fate of killing everyone. He will need to train an army up to a high level just to protect his family. The more people he kills, the more danger he creates for his family by upsetting various factions.
