Wasn’t it already established that this guy plans on killing all of them? Seems like a dumb move to turn against each other. I get that she’s confused but unless the two of them can outmaneuver the enemy the hostage/meat shield is going to die. Not like he can use her to protect two sides at once.
I disagree with the folks here. Sure the brat was naïve, but that was already established.
It was rather logical she believed the bad guy and got hostaged. He is a capable liar after all.
Sure best action would have been to attack that guy from two sides, but then again MC and maid have no way to communicate that with each other. And the maid has to prioritise her mistress.
