Nah, kick them out. If the entire group takes responsibility then they all accept the punishment, so they should all face it. This feels like favouring the mc just so the plot can continue.
For the spellcasters, letting them off just says violating their rules is okay, so wth? Whether one or all takes responsibility is irrelevant. Are they going to face that responsibility or not?
….Also, killing someone because they were disrespectful is just complete bs. Let’s not pretend it isn’t.
