Depends, conquering is not the only option, and frankly all conquering dose is shuffle around nobles. You can focus on peace through strength, but that requires the nobility to behave and maintain their regions.
Noble caste systems have limitations due to how labor is divided up. With some small amounts of centralization you can stabilize trade, by raising the education standards of commoners, as skill raise quality of life improves. And focus more on merit and skill, but nobles do not like that.

unfortunately, as long as humans are involved, there can never be everlasting peace. It’s because humans have their own will and ideas, because we’re not a hive mind, that there are bound to be a clash of interest at some point in time.
Temporary peace could be attained, but before long, war will happen again because of conflicting interests from people in the future.
Because each of us as an individual has our own free will, it’s just impossible to have a one-track mind for eternity.
