Honestly, I think Natasha deliberately used a slow acting poison, I think Ars convinced them of his own value, hence the “I think it’s a waste” commnet.
This assassin prolly has played something along like “game of faces”, where he believes he’s a she he became the she…. 
The history of the three eyes seems a little out of the blue at this stage of the game, but it does help explain how Ars got them and how Natasha was able to fool them… Since I’m sure it’ll be revealed that she has the eyes of the Tactician…
The assassin is overly optimistic. Ars’s group includes an assassin who is an expert in poisons, a child genius, and an incredibly powerful sorceress. With all these elements, they are sure to save Ars.
That assassin is a cool character, and we certainly haven’t seen the last of them
