I like manga like this where the author-sensei gives spoilers about upcoming events or makes the reader curious with statements like: “and I didn’t know yet that that day and that event would lead to such big problems in the future.” When you read that, it’s normal to want to keep reading to find out what kind of problem it is, lol.
His decisions there were defo strange, I know he isn’t morally clean but I didn’t think he would be happy to eat them so easily, at least until he saw their resilient character. His decision with the bears made sense, but with the party he should’ve defaulted to the more pleasant route, at least in a logical sense to gain an owed favour
