This is rather important and I want to elaborate on this.
“A craftsman never blames his tools” is wrong. It’s just wrong. The correct quote is that a professional never blames his tools. The amateur can blame his tools because he may be working with whatever the hell he has left around. The professional cannot blame his tools because those tools are a reflection of his own skill and capabilities. If he was skilled, he would have chosen the best tools. If he chose bad tools, the blame is solely on himself.
In this case, the Mount Hua sect are not professionals. They are (or at least, were) underskilled, definitely underfunded, and lacking any influence in the field. Therefore, they cannot be blamed for their poor weapons; it was all they could get.
