pretty dumb of MC he don’t need to release them now, they won’t die and the fiends are stronger than ever and are trying to kill him, using a magic that will debuff you for months and permanently mess with your power when you’re being hunted is a horrible idea

This better be a real permanent loss or at least MC earns getting back the lost magic power. None of this “it’s a permanent loss and dangerous to do” that then just gets glossed over or negated without any work on MC part. It’s happened in other series.
