In the book he bets one of his own greater runes against the other guys rune. Lee also has much longer hair with a density problem. She keeps making the hair too heavy on accident but she overcompensates and makes it too light so it stands up. The clothes he gave her were purchased just for her not from some creepy past collection. They should have looked like a cheaper version of his normal clothes and been a bit too big for her not whatever she is wearing now.
