ah, im stupid i only get it now. Vermil was treating everyone shit even his brother so demon couldnt make him use of others beside him. No one should care about him and he shouldnt care about anyone deeply atleast he mustnt show it no matter what. Vermil had guts tbh

My theory is that they already tried summoning the demon when he died originally. they wanted the demon that possesses that cutting power but they accidentally got him but he kept the cutting ability?
