Um. That statement might be misinformed. Homemade cheese like these guys are doing requires only milk and a certain type of probiotic which can generally be sourced in plants. Even then for some cheeses, one only needs milk and salt to be heated to an extremely high temperature and strained. I know from research and personal practice. Homemade cheese is rather yummy.

It seems the most controversial comment got deleted. From the replies, I think the OP was commenting on the use of rennet to make cheese. The most common way to get rennet is from the stomach of a cow, but in some places, a version of rennet can be made from certain plants. The ancient Romans used vegetable rennet as their primary source, for example.
Cheese can be made without rennet, but the most popular cheeses are all made with rennet. It’s considered standard practice in cheese-making.
