He could have done such a better job of getting his brother to do it. They know the response time if monsters break out. Who would protect his son and the grandma until the awakeners arrive to help. Being able to protect them until help arrives would have been a good motivator, instead of the MC just coming across as a dick.

I agree with one thing specifically: Power corrupts. If you’re staying weak, you’re prone to be prey. Not just you, but your family, your kids, everything that’s precious to you will become prey to the (corrupted) strong. The Chinese / Koreans have a saying (freely quoted): “Those who have the bigger fist are right.” You have to make your fist the post-modern nuclear warheads… or should I say warfists… to live more or less at peace. So, if we readers ever isekai to wherever, let’s get strong… just not corrupted please.
