They underestimate American corporate culture. 1: no one in a company like that would have done a side project without permission, and if they did they would have ONLY brought it up when it was profitable.
2:they have a million side projects going all the time, and they scrap them without mercy or pity at any given moment even laying people off. The CEO would have been “ok, that’s some good news”
3: IF it was a family company, there would be 6 other siblings with other projects and they would be getting absurd praise for having initiative rather than doing nothing at all.
4: if it was publicly traded, then there is not only a SOX audit trail, but also government involvement, because in America corporations are people, hence why the government gives them more welfare then everyone else.
