The reason would be that as a princess she probably doesn’t have a claim to the throne, assuming males only can inherit. But if she marries then her husband would through her have a claim to the throne..

What is the sam hell you talking about? Marriage WAS a political tool, men were mostly heirs to many nations but women were invaluable during the medieval all the way thru the early industrial age, marriage signified a union of 2 houses coming together.
Their either trying to vassalize you, forming a Personal Union, or trying to satellite you.
