That last part is cute, but somehow points out to Desmond’s Research, & if Anya remembered something 🤔
Maybe he doesn’t understand the thoughts of others because he’s a telepathic alien, his brain is built differently and lacks the ability to process human emotion correctly.
I’m sure it is not this simple.. “Des…d’s research” must have more to it. One of commenter theory about Desmond train to fake his thought also make sense
Everybody was waiting for some big plot to happen on this chapter…and it did, but not the one everyone was expecting. Look at the last page: Here is your big plot
1. How, exactly, do you know that she was looking at you? Hypocrite.
2. I think that maybe Mr. Final Boss can read minds, but meant that he has difficulty understanding how other people think.
So I have a feeling that Desmond might actually still be a telepath, but courtesy of being more experienced as a telepath and overall smarter than Anya means he was probably throwing her (and by extension the audience) off guard with those thoughts in his head upon recognizing another telepath was spying on him. But again, that’s just what I’m theorizing; I’ve no evidence to back it up.

Ok I reread it again and again and I think I’ve understand, Desmond might actually be a telepat or something like that, but since he’s an adult he know how to control it properly
Not only that but if I remember right he created this power with the experiences etc which explains why he’s so good with it.
And I think he had those thought to bait Anya, not knowing who was spying on him but feeling her presence he tricked her into thinking he was normal
And obviously, this encounter and she over doing it made her hidden memory came back including the pain of the experiences she went through

Sweet she found out that Desmond is not an alien or telepath. So Papa can continue to spy. The frost queen did not get any info. Love the daughter-mother sleepover. They trust each other.
