This better have some major implications towards Strix in a way that I’m not foreseeing. It truly feels that this is, effectively, a multi-month gap from the actual story just to show us that war is bad.

God I know it’s supposed to be showing how war in general is bad and how both sides should be trying their hardest to avoid it, but the more I reread this the more authoritarian and warlike Ostania seems, at least compared to Westalis. Because of the seemingly good economy and Western architecture it’s sometimes hard to remember, but Ostania is meant to be a parallel of East Germany and the Soviet Union.
