I always found characters like the shadow to be really odd.
It just comes across as the audience itself materializing into the story, to criticize the MC for his obvious BS behavior, rather than a genuine part of the story.
It’s also bizarre, because the existence of the shadow, proves that the author is aware that his MC is annoying as all fkng hell up and under, to the point he created a character to bluntly criticize him.
So, like, id you know your character sucks, why write him that way?
