Well, what I think is that Evil spirit is not Daven’s but the kajin’s or whatever the name was.
What I think is after losing to Daven that kajin guy tried to a contract with the Devil and loose his control, and after his death is become the Evil spirit.
And that’s why they erase/fabricated the history.
