I’m more drawn to their clothing. The tailors must make f*cking BANK; either making all these clothes bespoke, modifying mass-market clothing, or – more likely – an entire fashion industry with subdivisions for each species.

I’m surprised and impressed that the testing started from the moment he noticed the flyer, I myself had guessed it to start when he passed the barrier entering the building. It’s also very nice to see this kind of story from another perspective, specifically from the side of those who would usually be depicted as the enemy.

“A test of character” to see if he tries to pick up a pen you threw away? If he jumps back like a scaredy cat when touching your hand?
Meh. What an surface level children play.
I would have failed the “test” twice, wouldn’t even try to pick it up. “You lose it, you reclaim it” and/or wouldn’t jump like a startled cat when touching her hand after anouncing “I will pick it up for you” and she bends over herself as well.

Also, that magic test is kinda … not well thought through. They are testing level 1 and 2 magic with the flyer and the barrier but even if you can read the flyer you wouldn’t get into the building so they wouldn’t get into the interview anyway so why testing the difference between 1 and 2? If 2 is the only one being able to enter then testing for 1 is … waste of effort, and a pretty shitty way of wasting the time of the people looking for a job because they would wander around the area confused while they could spend that time to look for an ACTUAL job that is interested in them.
