MC could have made himself more mysterious while at the same time less interesting to outsiders by denying that the dragon was tamed by him actually taming it. Less people can demand his secret technique if he declares some mystical bs about their fates being forced to intertwine and constantly bemoaning never having wanted to tame it at all or something.
