I kinda wish he actually carried the clingy guy too. I mean sure the MC is the one to get OP but at least have 1 bro with you… but that bro must not remain weak.
Bit of a stretch but I think all the higher-ups are just interested in a new potential (aka the protagonist) in this scenario. You might think his expression in the end signals the fact that he’s a potential villain, but to me I think it’s just the excitement of a soldier and a leader.
