I don’t see how this is surprising, we know this guy will do everything to gain power and renown for his own goals. In the past life all he had to do was scheme in the dark and reap everything without someone to stop him, but now that his plans failed he needs to step in and gain fame to have an unshakable position from which he can confront the MC.
