So that dragon can’t first deliver the egg and help later?
And if he want to help that slave, how about othe slaves in another place why dragon not help it too.
I mean if their main mission to help human, should be they make task force and organize their work? They live more than 100 years but have no organization to counter that petty things and manage human aggression despite having long life and power.
They must really idiot to can’t manage the incoming risk and change, like there’s no decent human that will accept their envoy and race

This is disappointing how come the life of a future king be less important than the live of random girl

So basically he thought that a human being was more important than his king’s child? I feel like the reasoning was too weak, he literally could’ve indirectly allowed the slave to die and saved the egg without literally breaking the dragons promise.. The dragon isn’t writteb to be a robot with no self-preservation while the actions that the author showed in this chapter indicate that he is something similar to one, if his priorities are that much out of whack.
TL;DR: This chapter didn’t make too much sense..

… truly ridiculous reason to explain the plot, a bit disappointed by the author for giving such a simple scenario.

Well, that’s what passive naivety and arrogance gets you, They honestly thought that they were so far above humans in raw power that they could just avoid conflict with them entirely which was just incredibly harmful to themselves.
Honestly have no idea why he didn’t just use his lightning to stun them, and safely extract the girl and the egg from the situation, was he so far into the whole “Never lay so much as a wisp of magic on a human” mindset that he thought he’d be disrespecting his king by doing just that lol.
