It went to the end of the repeat, then shows what happened as status report by the villains. Not hard to follow, and adds details on what they were doing while heros were trapped. I think this is one of the good ways to do it. Imagine seeing the same events with just minor teaks for most of the beginning.
Though i admit if they just had fast-forwarded to the different parts there would be more tension, but beating ormphalious is the big tension, so it can do.

not all of him has regressed. his instinct and some parts of this original timeline will is hacking the guideline probably. he is probably in the void until the very final battle.
