The power of the “Wheel” seems like some sort of causality-stomping time-loop magic. The “Arrangements” are fixed points in time, it seems, that Elric is sent back to over and over again until he achieves the caster’s desired outcome, and then shunts him into the timeline that he’s created. In this way, he can keep all the power he gained during that time, because it all happened in the real world, not in a mindscape. Even though the founder had no way of returning from the dead, he could lead himself to escape this fate by creating a magic that would result in a timeline where the founder lives and escapes his fate. By spinning the wheel, Elric is in fact allowing his destiny to be curated carefully to achieve the goal of “Winning in the best timeline”. This is my guess, I can’t do aught but wait for more
