I think everyone’s a little too harsh on him and forgot who he was before being isekai’d.
He’s a dude that’s been grinding away at work like a slave where he’s burnt out the majority of the time. He gets no praise for his work to the point where it affects his self confidence and ambition. He’s been verbally abused at work so much that he is at a point in his life where he is taking on an indifferent attitude. I bet you that he genuinely thinks his boss is scarier than the dragon he just killed simply because his boss crushed his spirit and sucked the life out of him.
