Terminally-Ill Genius Dark Knight - Chapter 21
Comments for chapter "Chapter 21"
The original Stormbringer is the root of the “Ego” swords in fantasy. Its alignment is Chaotic evil as it sucks its wearer lifespan as much as his foes. In the end, it always betrays its master.
For those curious about why the author chose that name for the sword, here’s the description of the one it’s based on from the widely famous (among boomers) fantasy series, the Elric Saga (itself a spinoff of the Eternal Hero), that it’s based on:
“Stormbringer is a huge, finely-wrought, crooning runeblade greatsword, with a blade at least five feet long from the hilt. The hilt itself is embedded with a large spherical ruby that often looks like an eye in official artwork. The blade is made entirely from an unearthly, vaguely flesh-like black metal, and is etched with mysterious runes so ancient that even Elric lacks the knowledge to decipher them. The runes can sometimes be seen to glow and change colour, cycling from red and purple to blue. The blade is often wreathed in black light and dark fire, and it screams in battle. Any being slain with Stormbringer will have his or her soul leeched out of them.”

The true name of the sword is BLOWJOB! Because it SUCKS and BLOWS!
“Stormbringer” is the name of a very famous cursed black sword prominantly used by a famous character named Elric of Melnibone. From an absurdly popular fantasy series by Michael Moorcock in the 1960’s which was a foundation for many modern fantasy writers. Having a cursed black sword called “Stormbringer” has the same narrative impact as having a holy sword called “Excalibur”.
