I think those materials are very hard to collect and are located in a dangerous place and our MC had to defeat powerful monsters to get the materials and got absurdly powerful in the process 
She’s his lover, but they’ve never been close enough to be face to face? That does not compute
Overfocused on results, not the cost, fun…
Where did she get the idea she was ‘the best’ ? Her reputation has gone downhill in three weeks to the point that she’s already had her rank demoted to ‘B’. She managed to be an ‘A’ rank with a supposedly ‘useless’ assistant who only had a 40% success rate holding her back. Maybe now the penny is starting to drop and she’ll realise that forty percent for the high quality she demanded for her ingredients was very good and can’t be matched by anyone else. Anyway, I don’t think she understands that she’s been using the wrong words and that what she actually means is that she needs a new ‘slave’ to bully.

So now we have the answer, she’s an idiot who didn’t realise that MC was the best collection assistant, not just a bully. That’s more sad than if she knew he was good and just thought she could push him around, at least then I could feel like she earned her comeuppance. Now I know she’s handicapped, I can’t feel good about seeing her punished for what she wasn’t able to do.
