Why the fick would you make your MC be terrified of the thought, that his fiance is breaking up with him (annulling the engagement)? Makes no sense and he just met her for the first time.
Doesn’t matter why she wants to cancel it, fact remains that it makes no good damn sense to keep the status quo. Or will you be like “yeah, I’m the MC and I already knew about her secret! I decided to help her before we even meet IRL, but for that I need to remain her fiance! Oink!” ? Normally you’d inform the reader about that in a “thought bubble” BEFORE he starts behaving like an idiot.
