I’m guessing that politician or his group was behind that dumb HQ order.
This feels like a 300ch+ series that could be halved without no one noticing and prob liking more.
Problem wi showing off is getting headhunted by special forces or attracting political attention…

Why not just hack in the military and be a whistleblower to the media as what really happen. Find more dirt on the higher up and make it clear that with this corruption it’s end of the world and there is no saving the world when the military top power cares about only their hot seat of power

dunno how much i care about geo-political machinations in an ‘returnee’ OP dungeon crawler fantasy. it kind of reminds me of farscape the old scif tv show.
in it, human astronaut bro returns with advance alien tech in a gate-jumping-ship and is the most versed person, now, on earth regarding that technology.
naturally politicians wants to control him and thereby the technology.
and he lays bare to them, that basically ONE ship could destroy the planet.
let alone an armada of ships that might come to invade earth at any time
IF they had the coordinates.
and they were so butthurt about they tried to force him to help them. (vie for power)
and basically he told them its like ant hill trying to think it can withstand the force of a few hundred elephants passing through.
an invasion of our solar system would mean we would be marked for obliteration
why would they even bother with landing troops?
it would be a planet-killer drone ordinance arriving at speeds we could not comprehend, regarding space travel. like arriving via gate in my cases.
