okay I just came up with a very interesting theory (or at least I think so). We know his alien people are tied in somehow because of that golem right? What if his alien people noticed his soul escaped to Earth and are behind the appearance of the gates, and once his human form dies they’ll “harvest” his soul and bring it back? They don’t know which human he is though, so they can only create traps to lure him in. Knowing his arrogance and incredible magic skills, they’d assume he’d become a great hunter, so they don’t even have to wipe out all humanity, just toss out bait in the form of magic materials, etc.
Yup it’s definitely a long-shot theory but it was fun to come up with.
The more likely theory that just occurred to me is this: because he was in charge of national defense, his people were conquered not long after his soul escaped and the remnants of his society have since been scattering across space.
(Both of these theories rely on a time-space weirdness, resulting in his soul’s travel to earth taking longer than the behind-the-scenes events; hence he arrived on earth only after gates, etc. began.)

Idk if I can keep reading. Like it not a bad one, but it Kindle of irrating having someone so intellegentic to be dumb down to a mouse.
Okay, so why the heck did he not just ask payment for teaching him? Like hiring him as a temporary mentor. That would be more stable and he wouldn’t even need to enter a dungeon for the “practical”.
