The Diary Of A Sage Around 40 Living In Another World - Chapter 6
Comments for chapter "Chapter 6"
It’s not 2.5 million gold pieces. It’s just not. For one thing, if your gold pieces were 1 gram each, which is ridiculously tiny, it would still be 2.5 tonnes of gold, and it would not fit in that bag. For another thing, he helpfully provides information to help calculate an exchange rate; 100 gold is enough to live on for a month. So you’re telling me the unpopular shop had 25000 months’ worth of living expenses on hand in cash? They would make far more money closing the shop and investing their rainy day fund.
Just to illustrate how ridiculous this is, it’s like going into a pawn shop, where they need to keep several thousand dollars on hand for daily business, and finding out they keep $40 million in cash on a pallet in the back room. The only business in town would be figuring out how to rob the witches.
They don’t even have the lazy excuse of ‘the currency is based on yen’ because 100 yen was a month’s living expenses was when it was introduced in 1871. I really can’t stand when an author gives details to color the worldbuilding but won’t be bothered to see if what he wrote contradicts what he wrote three pages earlier, never mind ‘contradicts common sense’.
I like how he is role playing a great sage who has created many spells, when it’s all a lie. Simply because he played the an mmo and that’s how he got them all.

Oh. These will be some thirsty nun? HEHE BOI
